🍂 Week-end d’automne en Vallée de la Clarée – Névache
Un week-end d’automne parfait pour découvrir les mélèzes “en feu” de la vallée de la Clarée à Névache, mi-Octobre
✨ Jour 1
Après le tunnel du Fréjus, la route qui descend de Bardonecchia vers Névache est étroite et sinueuse, mais magnifique. Les virages s’enchaînent, offrant de superbes points de vue sur les montagnes. Arrivée à Névache direction le fond de la vallée: Fontcouverte. La route est ouverte hors saison ; en revanche, elle est fermée au trafic l’été. Depuis le parking de Fontcouverte, nous avons fait la randonnée du lac de Laramont puis du lac du Serpent. Nous sommes redescendus au coucher du soleil, dans une lumière dorée. Magique!
Nous avons passé la nuit sur le parking de Fontcouverte, juste en face du camping municipal de La Lame. L’endroit est calme, plat et parfait pour dormir en van. Le camping était fermé en octobre…

✨ Day 1
After the Fréjus tunnel, the road that winds down from Bardonecchia to Névache is narrow and twisting, but stunning. The turns follow one another, offering beautiful views over the surrounding mountains. Once in Névache, we continued to the upper part of the valley to “Fontcouverte”. The road is open in the off-season, but closed to traffic during the summer months. From the Fontcouverte parking area, we hiked to “Lac Laramont” and then to the “Lac du Serpent”. We came back down at sunset, bathed in golden light. Absolutely magical!
We spent the night at the Fontcouverte parking area, right across from the municipal campsite “La Lame”. The spot is quiet, flat, and perfect for sleeping in a van. The campsite was closed in October…
✨ Jour 2
Le lendemain matin, nous avons roulé un peu plus loin jusqu’au parking de Laval (3 km environ) pour faire une autre rando jusqu’au Lac Rond. Le départ de la rando se fait le long de la rivière de la Clarée sur environ un kilomètre, relativement plat jusqu’au refuge de Laval.

✨ Day 2
The next morning, we drove a bit further for about 3 km to the Laval parking area for another hike, this time to le “Lac Rond”. The trail starts along the Clarée River, flat for about one kilometer, up to the “Refuge de Laval”.
Depuis le refuge de Laval, la montée est magnifique : on est entouré de bruyères rouge vif et de petites cascades en contrebas, jusqu’au lac Rond. À partir de là, on commence la boucle et on redescend vers le lac Long.
Il faut faire la boucle dans ce sens : le retour offre les plus beaux points de vue sur toute la vallée, avec un panorama exceptionnel !

From there, the climb is beautiful, surrounded by bright red heather and small waterfalls below, all the way up to Rond Lake. From the lake, the path loops down toward the “Lac Rond”.
It’s best to do the loop in this direction: the return offers the most spectacular views across the entire valley, an exceptional panorama!
